The production invites audiences to accompany the scientific teams led by Dr. Elie Poulin (Universidad de Chile) and Dr. Juliana Vianna (Universidad Andrés Bello) as they conduct research on Antarctic biodiversity and conservation. Viewers will also experience the work of Antarctic scientific divers Alejandro Pérez Matus (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Millennium Nucleus NUTME), Javier Naretto (Costa Humboldt), and Ignacio Garrido (Laboratorio Costero Calfuco, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Austral de Chile), who investigate the resilience of marine life. The film also features the research carried out by the Laboratorio Biodiversidad Molecular UNAB, together with researchers Claudia Ulloa, Eduardo Pizarro, and Dyess Herp (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Millennium Institute CRG), whose studies examine emperor penguin colonies and the impacts of climate change on one of the planet’s most vulnerable ecosystems.
Scientific advising was provided by the BASE Millennium Institute, together with its Associate Director, Dr. Julieta Orlando (Universidad de Chile, SOMICH), as part of the collaborative work between the Institute’s Schools and Education Unit and Planetario Huechuraba.
The screenings were accompanied by science outreach talks and photographic exhibitions highlighting Antarctica and its biodiversity.
