More than half of the 8 research lines of the BASE Millennium Institute are focused on the analysis of the biodiversity of study sites, including microorganisms, plants and animals. For this, various tools will be applied, ranging from molecular biology to physiology.
Our host institutions are: University of Chile (UCh), Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC) in the Metropolitan region, University of Concepción (UdeC) in the Bío Bío region, Austral University (UACh) in the Los Ríos region and the University of Magallanes (UMAG) in the Magallanes region and the Chilean Antarctic. Our associated institutions are: the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity (IEB) and Universidad Mayor in the Metropolitan region, the Universidad Católica del Maule in the Maule region and the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) and the Cabo de Hornos Subantarctic International Center, CHIC ( Cape Horn International Center) in the Magallanes region and the Chilean Antarctic.
While our collaborating institutions are: Center for Dynamic Research of High Latitude Marine Ecosystems (IDEAL) and the Millennium Institute in Coastal Socio-Ecology (SECOS). Our commitment is to strengthen the articulation and work with research centers, and organizations that contribute to decision-making in Chile, at a national and regional level.
